چکیده

In the subject of information systems modelling languages have proven to be an effective mean to design business processes of enterprises and their information systems as well. These modelling languages are specified by metamodels. The choice of elements that are specified by the meta-model, which hence are part of the modelling language, is driven by the modelling languages’ field of application. Areas of special interest for process modelling are inter-organisational collaboration scenarios. In this field, new requirements for business process models arise with the need to visualize new aspects of business processes. The review of existing modelling concepts is necessary to achieve an effective and efficient inter-organisational business process management. This paper motivates new requirements for collaborative business process models and presents a metamodel based extension Event-driven Process Chain (EPC), which can be considered as standard language for Business Process Management.

MATHEMATICAL MODELLING OF THE EFFECT OF FOAM DEGRADATION ON MOULD FILLING IN THE GREY IRON EPC PROCESS

In this investigation a new model was developed to calculate gas pressure at the melt/foam interface (Gap) resulting from foam degradation during mould filling in the Lost Foam Casting (LFC) process. Different aspects of the process, such as foam degradation, gas elimination, transient mass, heat transfer, and permeability of the refractory coating were incorporated into this model. A Computati...

Invigorating Event-driven Process Chains - Towards an integrated meta model for EPC standardization

When deciding about appropriate modelling languages, the degree of standardization often represents an important decision criterion. Although the EPC is commonly used for process modelling in the last decades, the absence of an official standard leads more and more to its nonconsideration. A coherent meta model is a pillar for the specification of process modelling languages. Accordingly, this ...

Extending the EPC and the BPMN with Business Process Goals and Performance Measures

The Event-Driven Process Chain (EPC) and the Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) are designed for modelling business processes, but do not yet include any means for modelling process goals and their measures, and they do not have a published metamodel. We derive a metamodel for both languages, and extend the EPC and the BPMN with process goals and performance measures to make them concept...

On Ontology-based Event-driven Process Chains

Event driven process chains (EPC) have become an established industry standard since a decade. Available tools are mainly used by highly educated experts. The great majority of processes are still developed with PowerPoint and Visio. With SemTalk an approach is presented how to enrich MS Visio in a way that it offers all modelling tool functionality required for EPC using an open meta model arc...

Achieving Integrated Care for Older People: What Kind of Ship?; Comment on “Achieving Integrated Care for Older People: Shuffling the Deckchairs or Making the System Watertight for the Future?”

This paper considers an implication of the idea that proposals for integrated care for older people should start from a focus on the patient, consider co-production solutions to the problems of care fragmentation, and be at a system-wide, cross-organisational level. It follows that the analysis, design and therefore evaluation of integrated care projects should be based upon the journeys which ...
